Private Health Insurance
In Spain

Living in Spain is great. But the healthcare system can be confusing, especially if you’re not part of it yet.

Maybe you’re self-employed, or waiting for residency,

or just don’t want to rely on long waiting lists in the public system.

The question we hear all the time:

Why Choose Us?

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need private health insurance in Spain?

Private health insurance is the best – or sometimes even the only – way to get access to healthcare. It’s also required if you apply for certain visas or residencia.

Can I switch if I already have health insurance in Spain?

Yes. In most cases, we can help you switch providers at renewal time – without any gap in coverage. We’ll also check if there are better conditions or pricing available for your profile.

Is private insurance accepted for residency applications?

Yes – but not every policy. Spanish immigration requires full coverage without co-payments (sin copago) and with full hospitalisation. We’ll help you choose a policy that meets those requirements exactly.

Is there a waiting period before I can use the insurance?

Basic services like GP visits and emergencies are usually covered from day one. For the rest, most insurers have a waiting period of 6 months for planned surgeries and certain specialist treatments.

We’ll tell you exactly what applies before you sign anything.

Can I make a claim through you?

Yes. We don’t just help you get insured – we also help when something happens. Need to make a claim? We’ll guide you through it. In English. With one contact person.

Can I choose my own doctors or clinics?

Yes, although it depends on the policy. Some plans give access to a specific network; others allow you to pick any doctor and get reimbursed. We’ll help you choose the setup that fits you best.

Is a medical exam required?

No physical exam, but most insurers require a health declaration. It’s a short form where you indicate any pre-existing conditions. Based on that, the insurer accepts or proposes a modified premium.

We help you fill it out properly.

Can I include my partner or children?

Yes. Family policies are common and often cheaper per person. We help you compare single vs. family cover so you only pay for what you actually need.

Is English-speaking medical staff guaranteed?

Some clinics have English-speaking doctors; others don’t. If this is important to you, we’ll make sure the insurer’s network near you includes English-speaking professionals.

And with us as your contact, you’ll never need to call the insurer in Spanish.

What does it cost?

It’s a lot cheaper than in for example the UK or The Netherlands. Most clients pay between €45 and €85 per month per adult, depending on age, policy type, and whether co-payments are included.
We’ll give you a transparent price upfront – no hidden fees.
